2025 Roberts Elementary International Festival
On October 17th, 2025, GGA collected an astounding amount of batteries through a drive held at the Roberts Elementary International Festival.

The team communicated through online messaging groups with local community a few weeks beforehand regarding the drive, resulting in many people bringing bags of batteries and lightbulbs to the event. Through the drive, GGA collected an estimated 200 different recyclable items.

1st Day of Summer Break 2025
On June 5th, 2025, GGA volunteers met up to sort and count batteries and other e-waste items gathered in the 2024-25 school year. The batteries were sorted based on whether they were primary (not rechargeable) or secondary (rechargeable), and secondary and lithium batteries were taped for safe disposal.

The count of batteries came to 895 total, with 9 secondary, 884 primary, and 2 Texas Instruments.
Thank you to our volunteers for dropping in on the first day of Summer Break! This marks the second time GGA has gathered for a large scale battery count.

Valerie and Isabel sort batteries into separate bags, while Liyan analyzes one's type and Yuruo searches up another on the internet.

Activities at Carnegie Vanguard HS, Bellaire HS, and Dragon Academy, 2024
We are raising awareness about battery waste and promoting battery recycling with fliers and announcements at these locations, in addition to continuing to collect batteries at CVHS, BHS, and Dragon Academy.

The bag of batteries to the left was collected with the help of Carnegie Vanguard High School's math department.
